Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH /Sector for Coordination of International Economic Aid organized today the regular meeting of the Donor Coordination Forum (DCF), co-chaired by Mr Ian Brown, Head of EBRD Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ms Dusanka Basta, Assistant to the Minister of Finance and Treasury.

 

Head of Office of the Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Mr  Sasa Maric welcomed on behalf of the Minister, representatives of donors participating at DCF meetings and stressed that it is necessary to strengthen donor coordination and adapt to the current affairs.

 

The DCF meeting was an opportunity for Mr Brown to present Bosnia and Herzegovina Country Strategy 2017-2022, emphasizing that the Strategy was prepared in line with the transition challenges and the Reform Agenda that was adopted in BiH. He added that priorities were defined for the new Bosnia and Herzegovina Country Strategy and reminded that EBRD has been operational in BiH since 1996 and invested over EUR 2 billion.

 

At the DCF meeting, USAID and Switzerland activities were presented as part of projects addressing BiH Diaspora issues.

 

USAID Project Management Specialist, Ms Dobrila Vukmanovic, presented a five-year project “USAID Harnessing BiH for Economic Development Activity", which creates opportunities for new jobs.

 

It was underlined that technical assistance will be provided and Working group established in the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees to develop a Diaspora Investment Strategy document, based on the Council of Minister’s Policy.

 

Deputy Head of Cooperation in the Swiss Cooperation Office in BiH, Mr David Kramer presented the MHRR/MFA Diaspora for Development Project (D4D), which is implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as through engagement at the municipal level.

 

At the Tour de table, representatives of donor agencies, international organizations and financial institutions in BiH, as well as of domestic institutions shared the information on the current and future activities, positive experiences as well as the challenges encountered in the framework of the development cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
